Origin Story: A New Direction
My Story
Hi, I’m Alison.
Over the years I’ve shared my creative work in a few different places online. The first was Old English Creations, my crochet blog which began in 2012. Later came Alison Hazel Art, where I shared my hobby art and creative projects. Alongside these, I also continued my astrology work at Starzology.
As time has gone by, I’ve realized something important. We only have so much time and energy and I want to focus mine in a more intentional way.
Why I’m Making This Change
For a while I felt stretched between several different websites and creative directions. There were also parts of my life and interests that no longer fit neatly into either art or crochet alone.
I wanted space to write not only about creativity, but also about wellbeing, solo living, travel, home life and the quieter pleasures of everyday living.
After many conversations and much thought, I decided it was time to bring everything together under one umbrella.
That umbrella is Heathcote Living.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Heathcote is my maiden name. The surname means “the cottage on the heath,” which felt like the perfect fit for this slower, more thoughtful new direction.
What Heathcote Living Will Be About
Over the coming months I’ll gradually transition away from Old English Creations and Alison Hazel Art as separate brands and bring their heart and spirit into Heathcote Living instead.
This new space will include many of the things I’ve always loved sharing:
- crochet and crafting
- hobby art and creativity
- wellbeing and intentional living
- solo life in later years
- travel and everyday adventures
- creating a calm and meaningful home life
More than anything, Heathcote Living is about crafting a beautiful life alongside the beautiful things we make.
Looking Ahead
I know this new direction may not resonate with everyone and that’s completely okay. If it no longer feels like the right fit for you, I’ll be sad to see you go.
But if these ideas speak to you, I’d love for you to stay.
This feels like a natural evolution for me and I’m excited to share this next chapter with you.
